Hanawa Falls/ Canastota- Mrs. Ann C. Ploof, 89, passed away on Monday March 18, 2024, at Oneida Healthcare Hospital with her family at her side.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

A graveside service will be held Friday April 19th at 12:00 noon at Winthrop Cemetery.

Ann was born in Massena on July 9, 1934, to the late Silas A. and Claire H. (Alden) Curtis. She married Gary R. Ploof on July 16, 1952, at the Brasher Falls United Methodist Church. They shared life, love, and laughter together for many years as Gary lovingly referred to Ann as his 'Succotash Queen.' They shared 70 years of marriage. Gary passed away on April 13, 2023.

Ann dedicated her career to the healthcare industry as a Ward Clerk in labor and deliver for Herkimer Hospital and Mohawk Valley General Hospital. Her commitment to serving others and her warm presence will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Ann enjoyed everyone coming up on holiday weekends to visit, to cook out and sit by the campfire and tell stories.

She loved the beauty of her flowers, gardening and was a member of the Laurentian Chapter #666 Order of Eastern Star, Brasher Falls.

Ann is survived by her children, Debra and Michael Moore of Richfield Springs, Laurie Lane and partner Lisa Raiano of Ilion, JoAnn and Joseph Percy of Canastota, Penny Holovitz of Frankfort, and Timothy J. and Marilyn Ploof of Clinton; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Always close to Ann's heart is the memory of those who predeceased her; siblings Joan Tanner and John Curtis; son - in - law Joseph "Skip" Holovitz, and her son Stephen G. Ploof who passed away on November 8, 1989.

Let us find solace in the memories we shared with Ann, the joy she brought, and the love that will forever live on in our hearts. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
