April N. Banach

Madrid - With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of April (Deleel) Banach on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 65.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. April's services will be held on Wednesday June 10, 2026 with visitation at the funeral home from 9:00 am till 11:00 am followed by a Graveside service at Brookdale Cemetery with Pastor Lee Sweeney.

Born in Potsdam on April 9, 1961, to Floyd and Nora Deleel, April lived life on her own terms. She was a true spitfire-outspoken, independent, and never afraid to stand up for what she believed was right. Those who knew her knew exactly where they stood, and they loved her for her honesty, strength, and unwavering loyalty.

April helped her parents operate Deleel's Country Corner in Knapp Station until its closure. She spent many years working at Walmart in both Massena and Potsdam, where she formed lasting friendships and touched the lives of many customers and coworkers.

While she had many roles throughout her life, the one she cherished most was being Cory's mom. Her son was her pride and joy, and nothing made her happier than seeing him succeed and build a life of his own. Her love for him was evident in everything she did.

April leaves behind her son, Cory and his wife, Jeanette Banach; her mother, Nora Deleel; her brothers, Michael (Christine) Deleel, Matt (Lori) Deleel, and Mark (Linda) Deleel; her sister, Robin (Steve) Boutot; many nieces, nephews; and countless family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was welcomed into eternal rest by her father, Floyd Deleel, and her great-niece, Tayrn Deleel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in April's memory may be made to the Potsdam Humane Society.

Though April could be tough as nails, those closest to her knew the depth of her love and devotion. Her strength, her spirit, and the fierce love she had for her family will never be forgotten.
