Carol Burnap

November 12, 1942 — December 30, 2023

Winthrop - Carol Ann Chapman-Burnap, daughter of the late Cecile (Arquiette) and Edwin Chapman was born November 12,1942. She gained her angel wings on December 30, 2023.

She married Duane Burnap 9/08/1962 at the Brookdale Wesleyan Church with Rev. Bernard Fortune officiating. She graduated from Potsdam State College with a degree in teaching. She taught at Herman Dekalb school for her first years. She then went on to teach in the elementary grades at St Lawrence Central School until she retired. Even after she retired, she substituted, she loved teaching. Carol also loved being very involved in her church; teaching Sunday School, VBS, teenage youth groups and playing the piano. She also loved gardening and canning. She shared her vegetables with anyone who would take them. She has been a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and teacher to so many. She was very involved with raising her five children, hockey, girl scouts, piano lessons, youth group, camping and school events. She also loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time playing with them. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Burnap, her daughters, Dreane Burnap, Heidi and Jim Otis, Ruth and Gary Page, Jolene Burnap, her son, Joshua and Sara Burnap, her grandchildren, Caleb Otis, Derek Otis, Cory and Abigail Page, Casondra and Brandon Crinklaw, Kyle Burnap, Kyle Everts, and CJ Everts, her great grandchildren, Caydince Page ,Oakley Page and Huntley Page, Cordelia Crinklaw, Perstephanie Crinklaw and one more baby Crinklaw, her sisters, Rena and James Roach, Jean and Richard Hamilton, her brother, Edwin and June Chapman and brother-in-law Frank and Mary Rinquest. Also, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Beth Rinquest.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Knapps Station Community Church in Norwood from 12 noon until 2 pm. Her funeral service will be held at 2pm with her committal prayers to be held at the church. She will be buried in Jenkins Neighborhood Cemetery in Stockholm. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, where memories and condolences can be shared at www.hammillfh.com.
