Cheryl L. Opal

Our hearts are saddened to announce the passing of Cheryl L. Opal, who left us peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 73 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. Born on March 20, 1952, in Potsdam, Cheryl's life was a testament to strength and resilience. A loving daughter to the late Constance (Connie Bennett, Opal, Thompson) and Alexander Opal, and sister to Mary Williams and Paula Opal of Punta Gorda, FL, and a loving aunt to Brittany Williams Hunt.

The family would like to thank all of the people that cared for Cheryl. The stories that they shared touched their hearts, especially to hear about her "spiciness". Their compassion and respect for people with intellectual disabilities was evident.

Graveside services will be held on November 4, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery, Maple Street, Massena NY, at 12:30 pm. Cheryl will be laid to rest with her parents. As we say our goodbyes, let us cherish the laughter, love, and light that she brought into the world.
