Brasher Falls - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryll A. Terrance, who left on February 26, 2026, at the age of 78.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Following Cheryll's wishes there will be no public services at this time. Her family will have a Celebration of her life with details to be announced at a later date.

Cheryll was born in Massena on June 29, 1947, to the late Francis B. and Elizabeth (Shantie) Bond. After earning her high school diploma, she continued her education at Matier Day College and obtained an associate degree.

At one time she was married to Gary Madlin which ended in divorce. She then was married to Charles Aumell. Their marriage was created with care, support, and love of family. Charles cared not only for Cheryll but for all her children too as he became their adopted father. Charles passed away in 1998.

Although heavy with grief her heart still had love to give. Cheryll then found friendship, adventure and love with her companion Gerald Terrance and they were married in 2000, renewing their vows in 2020.

Cheryll dedicated her life to uplifting others. She began her career as a nurse's aide at St. Regis Nursing Home and Canton-Potsdam Hospital. She then worked as a compassionate counselor at Murphys Home in Madrid, Rose Hill, and ultimately retiring from St. Lawrence County Chemical Dependency Services in Canton. Her care, kindness and understanding left a lasting impact on the countless individuals she helped throughout her career.

Cheryll's passions extended beyond her professional life. She had a profound love for all animals, particularly horses. Whether riding at shows, winning blue ribbons, or rescuing animals in need, Cheryll's heart was a sanctuary for those in her care. She would nurse them back to health, ensuring they found loving families or forever homes.

An avid reader, she enjoyed diving into murder mysteries, often keeping her family entertained with intriguing stories. A master craftswoman, Cheryll found joy in art, painting, leather work, knitting, and crocheting, often sharing her beautiful creations with all her loved ones.

Family was at the core of Cheryll's life. She cherished the moments spent together with her relatives, especially gathering for family dinners filled with laughter and warmth.

A fierce and independent woman, Cheryll was known for her quick wit, her intellect and strong voice, always standing up for herself and her family. She lived life on her own terms, encouraging those around her to find and embrace their own paths.

Cheryll is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Terrance; her children, Shara Lee (John) Tacchino of Heuvelton, Garrett "Sonny" Xanyn of Fall River, MA., Billie Jo and (Scott) Ober of South Colton, Kirk Aumell of Norfolk, Amanda Terrance of Potsdam, Brendin Terrance of Norfolk, and Brandon Terrance of Norwood; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her brothers, Scott Bond of Norfolk, Thomas Bond of Norfolk; her sisters, Robin (Matt) Monroe of Norfolk, Tammy Dayrit of TX., and Sherry Calhoun of Norfolk.

Besides her parents Cheryll was predeceased by her siblings, Francis Bond Jr., Susan Bond, Fred Bond, Mary Jane (Bond) Kinney, Steve Bond and long-time dearest friend Sally Brothers.
