Brasher Falls- Mr. Colin D. Arquiett, 67, passed away Friday June 2, 2017 after his courageous battle with cancer in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love and the support of his wife Dawn and family at his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Colin was born in Potsdam on June 28, 1949 to the late Anthony J. and Iva I. (Fletcher) Arquiett. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School and served his country in the US NAVY.
On March 3, 1972 he married his best friend and soul mate Dawn M. Cayea. They shared a bond together that allowed each of them to know the other one ‘always had their back’; a real life example of true love.
Colin worked many dedicated years at ALCOA where he not only dedicated his time and energy but was able to make connections and build lasting friendships.
Those who knew and loved Colin would describe him as a true outdoorsman who had a strong yet humble spirit and a great sense of humor.
He was always keeping busy; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and golfing, Harley rides, and even just doing yard work. He also had a skilled hand and took pleasure in woodworking.
He was a past member of the Brasher Winthrop Fire Department and the Am Vets Post #4 in Massena.
Colin is survived by his wife Dawn, who he loving called “Ma”; 2 daughters, Brandee Arquiett of Indiana, and Heidi Arquiett and her companion Randy Prashaw of Norfolk; his grandchildren, Cody St. Hilaire of Massena, Levi and Hunter Booker of MO., Isaiah Lyons of Brasher Falls, and Jack Prashaw of Norfolk.
Survivors also include his siblings: Beverly and James Gauthier of Brasher Falls, William and Keitha Arquiett of Brasher Falls, Wayne and Michelle Arquiett of Winthrop, Linda Hartson of Winthrop, Steven and Missy Arquiett of Winthrop, Kathy Ward of Ogdensburg, Karen and Christopher LaMora of Marion, Sherry and Kevin Shaver of Ogdensburg, and Sheila and Chris Sharland of Wolcott.
He was predeceased by his brother Dale Arquiett; sisters Patricia “Patsy” and Mechelle Arquitt; brothers-in-law Douglas Hartson, Wayne Arquitt, Norman Hill.
Calling hours will be Thursday June 8th from 11:00am- 2:00pm at the funeral home with Colin’s Funeral Service beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Carville Cemetery in Helena.
