Daniel F. Newtown

Helena- Daniel “Dan” F. Newtown passed away at home with his wife Julie and daughter Kelce at his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. In keeping with Dan’s wishes, there will be no public services.

Dan was born in Potsdam to Levi and Marion Newtown on February 27, 1953. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central and married the love of his life; Julie, at Bay Pond Park in Paul Smiths, NY on July 23, 1994. 

Dan had a profound love for his wife, children and grandchildren who he dedicated his life to. He worked and lived on Bay Pond Park in Paul Smiths, NY for 18 years. He then retired and moved back home to Helena in 2019. 

You could often find Dan at Brian’s Small Engine Repair in Norwood, and if he wasn’t there, he was in the fields or the woods hunting; all depending if it was goose or deer season. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman who had great respect for the outdoors.

If you needed something done, you could just ask Dan. It didn’t matter what it was, he was there to help. 

Dan is survived by his loving wife Julie; his children; Kelce, Devin, Danielle, Russell, Steven, Carie and Hannah; his grandchildren; Levi, Emma, Finn, Lachlan and Shelby, as well as his siblings; Lorraine, David, and brother/best friend; David Rockwood. Besides his parents, Dan is predeceased by his sisters; Connie and Susan.
