Winthrop - Deborah L. Phelix, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at the Canton Potsdam Hospital - RRH with her husband and family by her side.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop where visitation will be held, Friday September 26, from 4 - 5:30 PM. Deborahs' Funeral Service will begin at the conclusion of visitation at 5:30. Her family will then gather at the Winthrop American Legion to continue the celebration of Deborahs life.

Debbie was born on September 12, 1952, in Massena to the late Theodore and Hazel (Wilson) Durant and attended St. Lawrence Central High School in Brasher Falls. Debbie married Gilbert Phelix on September 12,1970 at the Brasher Falls United Methodist Church. She led a life dedicated to her family and service to others as she was a compassionate healthcare aid at Healthcare Services of Northern NY.

Deborah and her beloved husband Gilbert traveled to Maine quite often as it was their favorite place to go together. Always creating lasting memories. They also loved camping with family in St. Regis Falls every summer, where they fostered a spirit of togetherness with quality time, laughter, and stories were shared under the stars.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Deborah's warmth and nurturing spirit were ever-present, especially in her passion for cooking which only reinforced her belief that food brings people together. She found beauty in life's simple joys, from the hummingbirds that she spotted, elegant lighthouses that she admired, and the cardinals that graced her sight; symbols of her bold spirit.

Deborah's creativity shone through her love of crafting, particularly embroidery, and she cherished quiet moments spent with her books. She had the unique ability to make everyone around her feel loved and welcome, offering her heart and support generously and selflessly.

She leaves behind a legacy filled with love, warmth, and unforgettable memories that will live on in her family who survives her; her husband of 56 years Gilbert; son Adrian Phelix and his wife Joanna Alba; daughter Deana and her husband David Dissottle; 10 grandchildren, Kristara Phelix and her companion Michael Provost, Kendall Dissottle, Kolby Phelix, Konnor Dissottle and his companion Alexandra Convertini, Autumn Dissottle, Ariana Dissottle, Garrett Phelix, Gage Phelix, Israel Escobedo, and Adrian Phelix Jr.; 2 great grandchildren Nolan Burnett and Miles Dissottle.

Besides her parents, a grandson Gavin Phelix also predeceased Debbie.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made in Deborah's name to a local charity of choice.

She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. May her memory be a guiding light to us all, just as she was a shining beacon in our lives.
