Donald J. DeBuque, 86, a proud lifelong resident of the St. Regis Falls community, sadly departed this life on February 21, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side where he was under the care of Hospice of the North Country.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls and following Donnie's wishes there will be no services at this time.

Donnie was born on June 16, 1937, in St. Regis Falls, NY, to the late Joseph and Rose (Rumley) DeBuque and graduated from St. Regis Falls High School.

Donnie led a fulfilling life as a proud veteran who served in the US Army as a radio operator, with a stint in Korea. He was a skilled truck driver in the propane industry for LP Gas as well as several other companies in his hometown and dedicated himself to his work. In earlier years Donnie was also a member of Local 322 in construction labor, showcasing his strong work ethic.

In his leisure time and younger years, Donnie enjoyed the great outdoors, partaking in hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was a founding member and served as chief of the SRF Rescue Squad, demonstrating his commitment to helping others in need. Later in life, he discovered a passion for gardening and had a talent for cultivating beautiful flowers, which he happily shared with the ladies in his life.

He will be greatly missed by his family who survives him; his brother Loren DeBuque of St. Regis Falls; close friends who were like a daughter and son-in-law, Lorena and Timothy Smith of St. Regis Falls; nieces, Tammy Fitzgerald, Lorna Lucey, Jeannie McDonald and Faye DeBuque; nephews, Gregory, Howard Jr., Andy, Ronnie, and Ralph DeBuque; those he considered grandchildren, Autumn Tebeau, Miranda Brockway, Tristan Smith, Cassidy Smith, Chuckie and Chad Rivers.

Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by his sister Evelyn Garrow; brothers, Howard, Floyd, Glenford, and James "Jimmy" DeBuque; and a nephew Kenny DeBuque.

Donald's legacy will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him, and his contributions to his community will not be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
