Winthrop - Donald P. "Skip" Perry Jr., passed away on June 2, 2026, at Canton Potsdam Hospital at the age of 69. Born on December 16, 1956, in Potsdam, NY, he is the son of the late Donald P. and Carolyn J. (Warner) Perry, Sr. He was raised the majority of his life in the Tri Town area and graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in 1976. He spent a lot of is childhood at his grandparents, the Warners and at their camp in Brandon. He served in the US Army from 1977 to 1979, stationed in Fort Huahua, AZ as an environmental health specialist.
A beloved father, Donald is survived by his daughters, Calesta and Chris Kellison, Jacqueline Perry and Jason Dennis, and Jolene Perry and Dave, as well as his son, Jay and Tara Perry his six granddaughters, Marlene, Samantha, Marissa, Katelyn, Autumn and Montana and four great grandchildren, Aaron, Lyla, Carson and Avyanna. He will also be missed by his brother, Michael and Valerie Perry, and his sisters, Lynn wright, Kelly Rafter and Christine Grant. Skips extended family includes, Colleen and Steve Oshier, Britany and Jordan Trumble, Abigail Fondacaro, Aaron and Milissa Thompson and Mom and Pop Ladue. He was predeceased by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Ashley Wilson Perry.
Donald spent many years working as a pot room tapper at ALCOA, East Plant, in Massena, NY, he retired in 2014. Outside of work, he was known for his love of bowling. over 40 years, regularly participating in leagues at Little Town Lanes in Moira, and his love of softball and baseball with over 53 years of participation, starting in the US Army, where friends and family have fond memories of his enthusiastic spirit and good-natured competition. He was a 10-year member of the Tri Town Rescue Squad, serving as first assistant chief. He was a CPR Instructor, a certified lab instructor and taught EMT classes.
As per his wishes, Skip's services will be held graveside at Hopkinton - Ft. Jackson Cemetery in Hopkinton on June 12th at 3 pm with military honors. Following the graveside service there will be a gathering at the American Legion Post #514 in Winthrop to share a meal and memories of Skip
Rest in peace, Skip. You will be missed, but your spirit and determination will live on through the many lives you touched.
