Emilie Dendler

Winthrop - Emilie M. Dendler, 85, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Maplewood Center in Canton. Following her wishes, her family will have a visitation on May 31 from 2 to 3 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. A memorial service will immediately follow.

Winthrop - Emilie was born on January 14, 1939 in Noxen, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Frederick and Racheol (Meyers) Schenck. After high school she attended secretarial school. She married Bernard R. Dendler on December 14, 1957 at the Noxen Methodist Church. Bernard died on June 17, 2009. Emilie was a secretary at the St. Lawrence Elementary School for many years.

She was an active member of the Brasher Falls United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed her flower boxes, cooking, her cat and taking care of Bernie.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra and Doug Ford of Kent, two sons, Joel and Sue Dendler and Neil and Susan Dendler, of Winthrop, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Lois Cahill, Niaomi French, Janet Hanstein and Alice Meyers.
