Joseph W. Laplante

Norfolk – Joseph W. LaPlante, Sr., 88, passed away at Massena Memorial Hospital. There will be no calling hours; arrangements have been entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Graveside Military Honors will be Monday at 11:30 am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Mooers, NY. Joe was born in Canada on May 16, 1925 son of the late Arthur and Delamay LaPlante. He served in the U. S. Army from February 2, 1944 to December 1, 1945, during which, he was a POW in Germany for six months. He married Catherine R. Cayea on August 11, 1945 in Champlain. Catherine passed away on May 24, 1987. He worked at Reynolds Metals in Massena in the pot rooms and was a member of Am Vets Post #4 in Massena. He is survived by one son, Joseph from Ogdensburg. One son, James predeceased him in 1998.
