Winthrop/North Fort Meyers FL - Judith A. Ruben, 86, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on February 15, 2024, with her loving daughter Julie and granddaughter Lydia by her side.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop and following Judiths wishes there will be no services at this time. Her family will honor her life privately.
Born at home in Holland Patent, NY on March 11, 1937, to the late Paul and Marjorie (Darrow) Kidder, Judith lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering love for her family.
She pursued her education, earning a High School Diploma before embarking on a career as a secretary for Clarkson University's Chemical Engineering Department. She retired after 40 dedicated years.
Throughout her life, Judith found solace in simple pleasures, spending her free time playing cards with friends, reading, knitting, and basking in the sun at her home in N. Fort Myers, Florida. She cherished moments spent with her loved ones, especially her husband Robert G. Ruben, whom she married on September 7th, 1957, after falling in love with her high school sweetheart. He was captain of the basketball team where she was the head of the cheerleading squad.
Bob passed away on July 18, 2003.
Judith's love for her family knew no bounds, and she found true happiness in their presence.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Ruben of Winthrop, daughter - in - law Laurie Ruben of Ames, IA; grandchildren Dr. Lydia Hagelund and her husband Peter Dempf,
Gretchen Zengler and her husband Brian of Portland, OR.; Robert Paul Ruben and his wife Danielle of Ames, IA.; great grandsons, Samuel Ruben, Calvin Ruben, and Ethan Zengler; and great-great granddaughter, Stella Zengler.
Survivors also include her; brothers, William "Bill" (Shirley) Kidder of Estero, FL., Paul "Butch" (Karen) Kidder of Caroga Lake, NY., and N. Fort Meyers; sister, Marjorie "Peggy" (late William) Buell of N. Fort Myers; brother - in - law Pete (Maureen) Ruben of Holland Patent, and sister - in - law Barbara (Gordon) Dailey of Holland Patent/Stuart, FL., and her precious dog Phoebe.
Always close to her heart is the memory of her son, Robert A. "Robbie" Ruben who passed away on June 20th, 2015.
Judith A. Ruben will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, gentle spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her. May she rest in peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
