June Tessier

June 24, 1939 — December 28, 2023

Lawrenceville - June M. Tessier, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 28, 2023 with her family by her side.

Born in Malone on June 24, 1939, June is the daughter of the late Leon and Lillian (Regis) Dow. After high school, she graduated from the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing in 1959 and then obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing from Catholic University in Washington, DC in 1964. On June 30, 1973, she married Alan M. Tessier at the United Nations Chapel in New York City. June was a registered nurse, employed at various hospitals throughout her career. She retired from Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone after serving nearly ten years as a discharge planner.

June had a lifelong love of learning and enjoyed reading across many genres. After she retired from nursing, she owned and operated the Paperback Browser in Lawrenceville. One of her greatest joys was hosting her large extended family for Thanksgiving gatherings each year.

June is survived by her husband, Alan; three sons and daughters-in-law: Greg and Darlyne Tessier of Winthrop, Troy and Michelle Tessier of Greenville, SC, and Chad Tessier and Cathy McNamara of Potsdam; twelve grandchildren: Jessica, Shane, Cody, Jean, Katie, Olivia, Ashley, Grant, Carter, Haley, Riley, and Matthew; three great-grandchildren: Dawson, CJ and Ava, her siblings, Karen McKernan of Lancaster, Leroy Dow of Weedsport, Harry Dow of North Lawrence, Fern Douglas of Massena, Mary Huryn of Cadyville and Chris Dow of Morrisonville. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Tessier, on January 19, 1971.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 3 to 5 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, with a service to be held at 5 pm. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in the spring.
