Larry Joseph Prashaw

Massena - Larry Joseph Prashaw, a beloved father, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice, on May 7, 2026, at the age of 88. Larry was born on June 24, 1937, in Potsdam, NY, son of the late Wilfred L. and Ida (Roshia) Prashaw. He married Elizabeth Gail Kilcoyne on August 22, 1959 at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence, sharing a blessed union of over 66 years.

A proud veteran of the US Army Reserves, Larry dedicated himself to his family and his community. His passion for fixing anything that needed repair earned him a reputation as the go-to guy with family and friends. There wasn't a problem he couldn't tackle, and his loved ones often found him tinkering away, whether at home or at his cherished hunting camp-a place that brought him immense joy and countless memories.

He started working while in high school at the St. Lawrence Seaway, also worked at Reynolds Metal, ALCOA and at St. Lawrence Gas, where he worked in service then regulation until he retired. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Massena.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth Gail Prashaw, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. He leaves behind his daughters Kimberely Stewart of Massena and Laurie and her husband Tony Vavra of Winthrop, as well as his sons Randall Prashaw of Norfolk and Joseph and his wife, Akiko Prashaw of Potsdam, his grandchildren, Meghan, Brett, Joshua, Jillian, Alex, Taylor and Jack and his great grandchildren, Jadelyn, Aaliyah, Deacon, Charli, Maeve and Daniel. He is also remembered fondly by his sister Joan Patraw, and sister-in-law Sally Prshaw. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Robert, and a sister Constance Vine.
