Loren P. DeBuque, a resident of St. Regis Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital on March 30, 2026.

Born in St. Regis Falls on August 10, 1933, Loren is the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Rumley) DeBuque. He graduated from St. Regis Falls High School and enlisted in the United States Army.

He proudly served in the SCARWAF (Special Category Army Personnel with Air Force), a provisional unit that was responsible for upgrading infrastructure, building runways and facilities under challenging conditions. Loren was honorably discharged from active service in May of 1955, served in the Army Reserves until honorable discharge on April 30, 1961.

On August 6, 1955, he married Muriel Powell at St. Ann's Chapel, sharing a blessed union until her passing on July 5, 2017.

A skilled welder by trade, Loren dedicated many years to St. Lawrence Gas, where he was known for his commitment and craftsmanship. Beyond his professional life, Loren was a faithful blood donor, providing that special RH factor, and was always ready and willing to help anyone, never expecting anything in return.

His strength and tenacity were forged in the boxing ring during his younger years, traits that continued to define him as a steadfast presence and protection to his loved ones.

He reveled in the joy of his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, and found fulfillment in simple pleasures like fishing.

Loren supported his community in various capacities, as he was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the St. Regis Falls Fire Department, the SRF Sportsmen's Club, the American Legion in SRF, and a union representative for St. Lawrence Gas.

Loren is survived by his 3 daughters, a daughter-in-law and their families. Jeanne MacDonald of FL, her children, Jessica Carrandi and her husband Gil, and Dallas and Esmerelda MacDonald; Nancy (Gregory) DeBuque of Bombay, their son, Adam and Sarah DeBuque, Tammy (Terrance aka 'Fitz') Fitzgerald of Dickinson; her son Loren Fitzgerald and his wife Kelly; Lorna Lucey and her husband Dick of St. Regis Falls, their children Melissa Lucey, and Sarah and Jeremy Goyea; Robbie Prior and his partner Jean Mullen; twelve great-grandchildren, Arya, Dallas Jr., Davina, Aiden, Alison, Loren Jr., Neveah, Jaxson, Chase, Ryker, Alison and Justin.

Loren always kept the memory of loved ones gone before him close to his heart, parents, Joseph and Rose, wife Muriel, son in law, Terrance Fitzgersald, grandsons Dereck MacDonald and Jonathan Fitsgerald his siblings, Howard, Evelyn, Floyd, Glenford, Joseph, James, Donnie, Shirley Garrow, William Garrow and most recently his son Gregory DeBuque who passed away on March 26, 2026.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls, and following Loren's wishes his family will honor his life and lay him to rest in a private ceremony at Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson.
