Lori Kaye King, 72 passed away on January 3, 2026 in Raleigh, NC after a years battle with brain cancer.

Lori was born on December 13, 1953 in Potsdam, New York to Lester Hourihan and Marguerite Hourihan- Dumas. She married the love of her life Richard King of Potsdam New York February 24, 1973 in Brasher Falls N.Y. The couple had 3 children, Christopher, Jeremy, and Nathaniel.

Lori is preceded in death by her father Lester Hourihan, mother Marguerite Hourihan- Dumas, step-father Paul Dumas, brother Peter Hourihan, and sister Robin Hourihan.

Lori graduated from Saint Lawrence High School in 1972 and went on to earn a business degree with honors from Canton ATC. She worked at SUNY Potsdam for many years in the Bursar's Office, Crumb Library and the Public Safety office.

Lori loved going camping in their fifth wheel camper, boating on the Gulf of Mexico, St. Lawrence River or the coast of North Carolina, raising and riding horses, remodeling their many homes and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorite memories were watching her sons hockey games and taking long camping trips out west. Lori always looked forward to summers when Rick and her would travel from Florida to stay at their cottage on the Albemarle Sound in North Carolina and spend time with her grandchildren.

What brought the most joy to her life was being a grandmother to 5 grandchildren. Lori/Mom/Nana was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She will also be remembered by her Garden of Gulf Cove community in Port Charlotte, FL, where she was very active and for spearheading the creation of the neighborhood watch.

Lori is survived by her loving husband Richard King of Port Charlotte, FL, sons Christopher King of Raleigh, NC; Jeremy King of Denver, CO; Nathaniel King of Raleigh, NC; her sister Nancy Hourihan, and along with grandchildren Brody King, Caden King, Ryley King, Ayden King, and Olivia King.

A celebration of life will be held at Waters Edge Restaurant in Brasher Falls, NY on July 11th 2026.

Burial will be at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Brasher Falls, NY at 11:30 am on July 11, 2026.

Memorial donations can be made in Lori's honor to St. Jude's Children Hospital or the Humane Society.
