Marsha Grace Gratton

Norwood – Marsha Grace Gratton, 70, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love and support of her family on May 4, 2013. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Marsha was born on January 29, 1943, in Buffalo, daughter of the late Elmer and Ester (Trombley) Wells. She graduated from St. Lawrence Central School and married Kenneth Walter Cook, Sr. on November 3, 1959 at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence with Rev. O’Connell celebrating. Marsha moved away from the North Country in 1973 to Rochester and then to Indiana in 1993. She married Robert (Donald) Gratton in 1980 in Rochester; Mr. Gratton passed away in 1991. She returned home to Norwood, where she was active in Jaycees. For Marsha, her family was her life, participating in the family’s activities and achievements. Her grandchildren always put a smile on her face. She had great faith knowing that her Guardian Angels were watching her family and left her children and grandchildren with her fond collection of Angels. Marsha had a welcoming personality for family and friends and also welcomed new technology as she learned how to use the computer. She enjoyed games of change, especially bingo. Marsha is survived by her children; Melody Sweet and her husband David of Kingston, GA, Kenneth Cook and his wife Jean of Batavia, Mary McQuoid of Frankfort, KY, Jacky Cook of Lockport, Rose Jarvis and her husband Frank of Ransomville, Sue Mitchell of Massena, Samantha Michaud and her husband James of Norwood, Anthony Cook and his wife Debbie of Rochester and Raymond Cook and his wife Lyndsey of Batavia, brothers; Carl and Ida Wells of AZ, Dennis and Sally Wells of Massena, Ronald and Ann Wells of Fairport, Timothy Trombley and Charles and Alice Trombley, both of North Tonawanda; 63 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased also by one son, John F. Cook, one brother, Wesley Wells and her step-mother, Hazel Wells, granddaughters, Theresa Cook Moore and Desirie’ Cook, and one grandson Daniel Dannan, Jr. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Marsha’s Celebration of Life and Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Garry Giroux offering the mass. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls.
