Melvin M. Montgomery

Winthrop - Melvin M. Montgomery, 65, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice.

Melvin was born on June 27, 1957, son of the late, Raymond and Nora (Rivers-Brown) Montgomery. He married his high school sweetheart, Laura L. Rust, on August 20, 1974. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2024, two months before Laura passed on October 10, 2024. Melvin was the manager at Catamount Ridge Quarry in Stockholm.

He is survived by his two sons, David L. and Jonathan J. and his fiancé' Angela Aldridge, three siblings, Myron, Joe, and Rosemary Brown. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joshua on December 16, 2022.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 23rd at the Lawrence Christian Fellowship in North Lawrence from 1:30 to 3 pm. She will be buried in the church cemetery.
