Born on May 10, 1944 in Dickinson Center to the late Gay Earnest and Agatha M. (Raymond) Sweet, he graduated from St. Regis Falls High School in 1962. At 21, he was drafted to the US Army, serving in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Specialist 4, earning his honorable discharged on May 2, 1967.

On July 13, 1968, Mike married the love of his life, Veronica A. Sweet, at St. Ann Church in St. Regis Falls. Together, they shared a loving and enduring partnership for 57 years, demonstrating the true meaning of commitment and love. As parents, Mike and Ronnie instilled strong values in their family, teaching their children the importance of good manners, hard work, and resilience in the face of life's challenges.

Throughout his life, Mike worked in the masonry industry for various contractors, but mostly for Murnane Contracting supervising jobs throughout the North Country for 40 years. His precision and dedication were evident in every project he undertook, a trait that inspired those around him. He was respected by his colleagues and took pride in his work. He earned his 50year Life Membership from the International Brick Layers and Allied Craft Workers Union.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mike's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many in his community, exemplifying a life of service and humility.

After his retirement, he contributed as a maintenance man and board member at the St. Regis Falls Adult Center. He was also a board member for the Maple Leaf Housing Center in St. Regis Falls, where he served as Vice President. Michael was an active member of the Sportsman's Club in the Falls and the American Legion in Moira; truly embodying the spirit of camaraderie.

He found solace in nature, working with his hands, and becoming the ultimate putter-er.

Mike was well known for his calming presence, his unforgettable eyes, and infectious smile; reflecting a soul that had the ability to make everyone feel valued and one that extended kindness to all he met.

He is survived by his loving wife, Veronica; his son Todd Sweet and daughter-in-law Cheryl of New Hampshire; cherished grandchildren Fahren Sweet, and Preston Sweet; a sister Mary Fountain, and several nieces and nephews who all held a special place in his heart.

Michael's heart endured the profound loss of their daughter, Tesa, on January 8, 2021, yet he remained a pillar of love and strength for his family. His parents and his sister Patricia A. Kimpton also predeceased him.
