Brasher Falls – Nancy J. Miller, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 07, 2014, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Nancy was born in summer of 1941 in Potsdam, daughter of the late William J. and Dorothy (Bogart) Nurney. She graduated from Parishville High School in 1959. On July 18, 1959, she married the love of her life, Robert Miller, at Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton. They shared a supportive and devoted relationship for 51 years, Robert passed away on June 27, 2011. Through the years, Nancy worked at Parishville School, Walt Collins Insurance and retired from Nicholville Telephone Company, where she was the Office Manager. She was devoted to her faith as a communicant of St. Patrick Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed her friends in the Tri Town Senior Citizens, the Monday Night Pitch Club, the LBSH Card Parties, and the monthly class reunions with the class of 1959 members. Playing cards and bowling were activities in which she showed her competitive spirit. Nancy had a great strength of character; she beat cancer over 30 years ago, and tried to beat it once again, while never losing the selflessness and compassion for others. She had an inner beauty that close friends knew but that beauty was shared outwardly with her lovely smile and laughter. Her companion; David Burnett, four sisters; Margaret Tassone of Canastota, Lois Lee Unz of Central Square, Anne Fitzgerald and Billie Bogart, both of Liverpool; her "Village Grandchildren", Devon and DJ Savage and Andy and Amy Snider.
