Philip F. Davis March 30, 1937 - January 6, 2026
Phil was born on March 30, 1937 on the Reagan Road, Town of Stockholm, NY. He was the 5th child of Floyd and Susan (Brown) Davis.
Phil attended St. Lawrence Central School in Brasher Falls, NY and graduated with the class of 1956. He was a member of the Busy Hour 4-H Club and the Winthrop Grange where he was invested into the NYS Grange as a 6th Degree Member of the Order of the Patron of Husbandry.
After graduation, Phil enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After basic training in Paris Island, NC, he was stationed at Skiff Creek Annex Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, VA. He served there for the duration of his enlistment.
Upon discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked for Dairy Head Improvement Association, as a milk tester, visiting farms and collecting milk samples for butter fat analysis.
In 1959 he was hired by Reynolds Metals Company in Massena, NY where he worked for 40 years making many friends. During his tenure at Reynolds he worked in the Pot Rooms, Carbon Plant, the Cast House and finally the Metals Analysis lab for his last 10 years with the company.
In February 1960, he met his future wife, Karen Bryant. After dating and pursuing her for many months he convinced her to marry him. They were married at St. Patrick's Church in Brasher Falls on August 19, 1961 by Monsg. Herbert Hanna, Monsg. Noel Zimmer and Father Laddin officiating.
In 1966, Phil became a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2176, eventually becoming the Financial Secretary and later the Deputy Grand Knight and Grand Knight.
In July 1969, Phil and Karen were blessed when they adopted Christina Marie, and again three years later in December 1972, when they adopted Darleen Marie.
In 2006, Phil became a member of the Stockholm Historical Organization. He helped in planning and making the Stockholm Bicentennial celebration
Phil was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Church and served as Secretary of the Parish Council in the 1970s.
He is predeceased by his father and mother, as well as his siblings, two brothers Clyde and Parley, and three sisters Bertha (Davis) Marsh, Reda (Davis) Cheney, and Barbara (Davis) Turner.
Phil is survived by his wife, Karen (Bryant) Davis, daughters Christina (Veryl Briglin) and Darleen (Travis Parker), as well as his grandchildren, Samantha Davis, Devynn Wilder, William Wilder and Hannah Gilbert.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 - 5 pm at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls on Monday, January 12th at 11 am, followed by Military Honors outside the church.
