Winthrop- Ms. Rebecca J. Whitney, 64 passed away on Monday September 25, 2017 in the comfort of her home where she was under the care of her family and hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Rebecca was born in Wellsboro, PA. to Ira E. Whitney and Hazel (Smith) Conway. She earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Potsdam. Rebecca was an Environmental Educator at the Robert Moses State Park, Nature Center in Massena. She is survived by her mother, Hazel Conway; her children: Joanna Sinclair of Greenwood, IN., D. Reidel Coulson of Winthrop, NY., Kimberley Bunnell of Brasher Falls, NY., S. Linnell Coulson of Winthrop, NY. ; her siblings: Timothy Whitney of Burlington, WA., James Paris of Mansville, PA., Vlossburg, PA., Elkland, PA., Deborah Moore of Waverly, NY., Ira "Butch" Whitney of Greeville, PA.; 8 grandchildren and several nieces nephews and cousins. Rebecca was predeceased by: her father, Ira E. Whitney; her siblings: Joanna Grace Whitney, Martha Whitney and Daniel Paris; and her daughter, Ashley Coulson. Family and friends are invited to join Rebecca's family for her Memorial Service that will be held on Saturday October 7th, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; located at 21 Castle Drive, Potsdam, NY 13676.
