After graduation from St. Lawrence Central School in 1971, he spent his life tending to farming, where he found solace in the rolling fields and gentle hum of the cows. On December 6, 1975, Richard married the love of his life, Sally A. Bushey in Brasher Falls.  They shared a blessed union of 49 years with a special love for each other. Richard's devotion to his family and his work as a dairy farmer defined his days, shaping him into a man of integrity and diligence.

Throughout his life, Richard cherished his beloved wife, Sally, and their children Melissa, Richard II, and Mark and his wife, Ashley, his brothers, William and Janice, Martin, and Robert and Tracy, his grandchildren, Austin, Angel, Hunter, Westyn, Gage, Emalynn, and Mazie, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Noah Khol Arquiett and Abigail Arquiett.  His commitment to his family was unwavering, always ensuring their wellbeing and happiness were at the forefront of his priorities.  He took great pleasure in picking on his kids and grandchildren, enjoyed his hobby farm, going to camp, cooking outdoors, camping, cutting firewood,  picnics  at Parishville beach, hunting and watching his kids sports.
