Richard C. Steed

Massena - On April 5, 2026, the world lost a true gentle giant, Richard C. Steed, aged 71, who passed away peacefully at his home in Massena, NY. Richard was born on February 8, 1955, in Paterson, NJ, son of Richard C. and Judith Augusta (Herman) Steed.

Richard was a heavy machine operator at Tilcon, in Pompton Lakes,NJ, where he spent many years working with the strength and determination that defined him.

He had a spirit that reverberated with passion for the things he loved. Richard was an avid fisherman, often found at his favorite spots, rod in hand, sharing stories about the "one that got away." His beloved Harley Davidson was more than just a bike; it was a ticket to freedom and exploration, a symbol of the road trips and memories he cherished. Not to mention, his Jack Daniels collection, a testament to his appreciation for good spirits and even better company.

Richard's legacy will live on through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted partner, Vicki Mullins, his mother, Judith Steed; his chosen daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Justin Hahn; , Vicki' son, Joseph Florie; siblings Elizabeth Mata, Timothy Steed, and Judith Winograd; his treasured aunt, Rosemarie Steed; and the apple of his eye, granddaughter Majka Hahn. his nephews, Eric Steed, Brett Steed and Dillon Steed, and Richard Mata, each of them carries a piece of Richard's spirit in their hearts. He was predeceased by his father, Richard C. Steed.

His family will honor his life privately and have entrusted the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop for his arrangements. He may be gone, but his vibrant spirit, love for adventure, and caring heart will continue to inspire all of us.
