Robert Graham Powell Jr., passed away on March 13th, 2026. He was the firstborn child of Robert and Joan (Ryan) Powell and born on October 11th, 1958. He was raised in Dekalb Junction until 1968 when his family moved to Winthrop, N.Y., and he resided in the family home until his passing. His home was very important to him and he was able to remain there until the end of his life surrounded by memories of love and family.

Bobby attended St. Patrick Catholic School and then St. Lawrence Central School and graduated in 1977. He was a huge fan of John Wayne, the Civil War, he loved old western movies and British comedy shows. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he loved both hearing and sharing a good joke. Although he didn't have a large social circle, if he loved you then you knew it- you were among the luckiest- as he was fiercely loyal to those he loved.

Bobby spent the last 32 years working at the American Legion until he retired last year. He took great pride in his job and he was dedicated to the Post and to the wonderful people there, and that dedication was returned to him many times over.

Bobby is survived by his sister, Kathleen LeBlanc. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Joan (Ryan) Powell and his younger sister, Stephanie Patraw. He has left behind his nieces, Corissa, Kelsey, and Jillian; and his nephews, Brian, Rylan, Quinn, and Donovan. He also leaves behind his great-nephews Phoenix, Carter, Lamont, Ray, Jameson, and Myles. In addition he has left behind a small but powerful group of people that stepped in and made sure he was able to live the best life he could. I hope you know who you are...I do.

Per his wishes, a private graveside service will be held this spring. If anyone would like to make a donation in his name then please consider the American Legion Post 514 in Winthrop, NY or the Tri-Town Rescue Squad in Brasher Falls, NY.
