Massena - Robert James White, left this world peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on July 1, 1934, in Brasher Falls, son of the late Eli and Viola (Monroe) White. Robert lived a life full of love, hard work, and cherished moments that will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew him. He married Phyllis Trimm on January 8, 1961 in Pennsylvannia. She passed away on June 22, 2005.
Robert was a skilled carpenter by trade, pouring his heart into the construction projects he undertook, particularly during his time with Local #322. His craftsmanship was not only evident in the houses he built but also in the warmth and comfort he provided to his family and friends. He enjoyed playing shuffle board, watching westerns and the Price is Right, Buffalo Bills and the NY Yankees. In this time of reflection, let us honor Robert's life by cherishing our relationships and taking the time to appreciate the little things, just as he did.
He is survived by his loving children: Laura Barney and Robert Preston, Mike and Diane Robinson, Roberta and Pat Donahue, Sue and Chris Cole, Robert and Diane White, and Jeff and Jodi White, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Rengert, 13 Grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Bob's legacy, and his spirit will live on through their stories and memories. He was also predeceased by a son, Ed Robinson, a son-in-law, Leon F. Barney, and his siblings, Dorene Davis, Lillian Alvarez, Shirley Burlingame, Carol Ackerman, Raymond White, Gerald White, Joseph White, Phillip White.
Family and friends are encouraged to join together to celebrate Robert's remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Friday February 27th from 11 am to 1 pm at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Closing prayers will be at 1 pm.
Robert will be laid to rest in the spring at Hopkinton -Ft. Jackson Cemetery, County Route 49 in Fort Jackson, NY, with the date and time to be announced. A Celebration of Life Gathering will follow the spring burial.
Those wishing to honor Bob, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in his memory. Rest easy, Robert. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
