Ruth A. Besio

Moira- With heavy hearts, the family of Ruth Anne Besio announces her passing on March 15, 2026. She died peacefully with her family by her side. Ruth was born on December 16, 1950 in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Jones) Cummings. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1969. Ruth entered into marriage on November 28, 1970 to the late Mark Joseph Besio and were married for over 40 years. She retired from her work as a principal account clerk for FEH-Boces in the Brushton-Moira school district.

Ruth is survived by her sister Gail (Royal) Sheldon of Liverpool, NY, a daughter Melissa Besio of Moira, a son John (Patricia) Besio of Dana Point, CA, a grandson, Noah Besio-Melech of Moira as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her retirement, Ruth enjoyed gardening ( she had a remarkable green thumb), photography, horseback riding and was an accomplished artist. Above all, she treasured time with her beloved family, especially her cherished grandson Noah.

A visitation will be held at Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls with a graveside service to follow at Forest Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. Details of the service will be shared soon including date and time.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth has asked for donations to the American Cancer Society ( American Cancer Society/">https://American Cancer Society/). The family would like to thank everyone who has offered love and support during this difficult time.
