Sally A. Wells, an eclectic and vibrant soul, gracefully departed this world on July 4, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by the love that she so richly cultivated throughout her life.

Born on June 18, 1946, in Canton, to the late Chan and Alice (Taylor) Planty. She was raised in the Ogdensburg area, attended H.C. Williams High School in Canton and later earned her GED, showcasing her determination and dedication to family and self-improvement.

On December 26, 1969, Sally married the love of her life, Dennis E. Wells, in Rensselaer Falls. Together, they built a life filled with shared interests and cherished memories, relocating to Rochester where they would raise their family. Their partnership of 53 years was a testament to love and devotion until Dennis's passing on December 11, 2022.

A long-time cashier at Walmart in Marysville, Ohio, Sally was known for her warm smile and genuine kindness towards customers.

Outside of work, she found joy in fishing, particularly in the company of her beloved husband. Her enthusiasm extended to the thrill of watching NASCAR races, WWE Wrestling, and Little League baseball games on television. Sally had a creative side, finding solace and enjoyment in diamond artwork and needlepoint, but nothing brought her more joy than a game of Canasta, where laughter and camaraderie flourished among family and friends.

Sally's faith and commitment to prayer carried her through life's challenges, providing her with strength and resilience during darker days. She was a cherishe
d member of the Elks Auxiliary in Hornell, NY, where she formed lasting connections within her community.

Sally leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and compassion.

She is survived by her son George E. Wells and his fiancé Shirley Howard of Theresa, daughters Penny Fosegan and her husband Jeff of Jacksonville FL., Patricia Madison, and her husband Dale of North Lewisburg OH.; and her son Elmer Wells and his companion Leslie Channy of Huntsville, AL. son-in-law James Diel; and her Niece and caregiver Samantha Michaud and her husband James.

She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Avery Planty of North Carolina, and sister, Amy Planty of Heuvelton, along with 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward.

Besides her husband and parents Sally was preceded in death by brothers Maynard
Planty, Stanley Planty, Celon Planty and a daughter - in - law, Denise Diel.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

A graveside service will be held on August 3, 2026, at 4:00 PM at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate her beautiful life.
