Massena - Serge E. Plante, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and skilled mechanic, will be remembered for his vibrant spirit and passion for life. Born on October 16, 1954, in Casselman, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Gerard and Gracia (Lafleche) Plante, Serge made his home in Massena, where he brought joy to all who knew him. After a lifetime of hard work and dedication, he passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at the age of 71.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished friend. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with those he loved most.
Throughout his life, he faced challenges with courage and dignity. Even in his final days, he was surrounded by the love of his family, who remained by his side until the very end. His love, wisdom, and quiet strength will continue to guide us, and the memories we shared with him will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Plante; his cherished daughters, Christine and Joshua Smith of Brasher Falls and Melissa LaMora and Derrick Gale of Waddington; his mother-in-law, Joyce Cockayne of Winthrop, his brother, Jean Pierre and Sandy Plante of Massena and his sister, Gisele and Howard Seger of Massena and his six grandchildren, Austin, Jared, Alexis, Grace, Cassie and Chloe.
