We sadly announce the passing of Tommy Votra, who left us peacefully on February 25, 2026, at his home, at the age of 62. Born on November 1, 1963, in Malone, NY, Tommy was the son of the late Willard and Erma (Sweet) Votra. He married Rebecca Dashaw LaVare on July 13, 1996 in Hopkinton, they would have celebrated their 30th anniversary in July. He was a lineman at Nicholville Telephone Company, in Nicholville, NY, until his disability made him unable to work.

Tommy was a member of the Nicholville Fire Department, the Standing Tall Hunting Club, Sons of the American Legion Post # 514, and St. Regis Falls Sportsmens Club. He was a fan of Syracuse Basketball, and was an outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, four wheeling or just being in the woods. Becky and Tom became snowbirds after he retired and made many new friends in Florida.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Becky,children, Heather and Lucas Monroe of Massena, and Mikle and Shannon LaVare of Florida, three grandchildren, Jake Monroe, Ayva Monroe and Landyn LaVare, his siblings, Terry Joanette, Brenda Campbell, Monica Deragon, and Timmy Votra. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Billy Votra. His warm spirit and easy smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In accordance with Tommy's wishes, no services will be held at this time. A memorial gathering will take place in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, where memories can be shared online at www.hammillfh.com.
