It is with great sorrow that we announce that, Wayne Douglas Arquiett, has passed away Monday, November 17th, very early in the morning surrounded by loved ones. Wayne was 83 years old. Born in Croghan, New York on March 1st, 1942, to Anthony and Iva (Fletcher) Arquiett, the third born out of thirteen children and he graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in the class of 1960.
Wayne worked at Reynolds Metals where he met his dear late wife, Michelle. His position was maintenance supervisor for 33 years, he also later worked at the Wastewater Treatment Plant for the town of Brasher Falls for over 30 years. He then worked at the Seaway.
He was a loving and devoted husband, he loved nature and animals, he spoke out for his community and family. Wayne was known for his Adirondack furniture, which he made from timber off his own land. He could always be found in his UTV, he enjoyed motorsports a lot.
He was always known for his big personality, loud voice, laughter, his great hugs, wonderful humor, work ethic, and strong stature.
Predeceased by his wife Michelle Arquiett and his daughter Danielle Arquiett. Wayne's memory lives on through his sons; Wayne, Bradley and Sherri, Jeffrey and Stacy, his nine grandchildren; Wayne, Chelsea, Bailea, Chantelle, Nicole, Nathan, Hailey, Austin, Kirsten, his siblings, fifteen great grandchildren, and his friends as well as neighbors.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral home and services will be held there in Winthrop. Wayne's wake will be held Monday the 24th from 5:00-7:00 PM and his burial is Tuesday the 25th at Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson at 11 AM, with a reception to follow at Pikes Place in Brasher Falls.
