Wayne G. Felix

January 1, 1946 — March 27, 2015

Winthrop- Mr. Wayne G. Felix, 68, passed away unexpectedly Friday March 27, 2015 at his home. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Wayne was born in Raymondville on October 19, 1946 to Reginald W. Felix and Pearl G. (Mossow) Felix. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Lawrence Central in 1966. After graduation Wayne served his country in the US ARMY, earning an honorable discharge in October of 1968. Wayne married his 'school sweet-heart', Roseanna Best on December 14, 1968 at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. Married for 46 years, they shared an irreplaceable relationship together for 52 years, built upon, dedication, love, laughter, faith, and most of all, family. For 36 years Wayne worked at ALCOA, retiring in 2009. He also worked for the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Mill, Simplicity Patterns, and Danko Construction. After retirement he worked for the Town of Stockholm and was the Maintenance Supervisor for the BHLS Health Center in Winthrop. However, Wayne's genuine spirit and love for helping others was seen throughout our entire community. Wayne's true pride and joy was his family; children and grandchildren alike. He was always present to them and for them. Watching them play their sports, playing with them outdoors, instilling life lessons and helping to mold their character. He truly was the patriarch of his family and will be forever missed. Wayne loved the outdoors, especially hunting, puttering in the barn, taking care of his lawn, and playing with his grandchildren. For 8 years he coached little league. He enjoyed country music, especially George Jones, dancing, and word puzzles. Spending time with family was his greatest pleasure. He is survived by his wife, Roseanna and his mother Pearl Felix of Winthrop, his children: Christopher and Heather Felix of Massena, Jason and Kimberly Felix of Colton, Wade and Alice Felix of North Lawrence, and Shaun and Sharon Felix of Greensboro, NC., 8 grandchildren who he cherished: Ciera, Shyane, Keith, Payton, Hunter, Noah, Grace, and Zander, his siblings: Ferne and Thomas Lord of Winthrop, Gale "Bud" Felix of Norfolk, Richard and Wilma Felix of Syracuse, Karen and Wayne Jock of Brasher Falls, and Keith and Jody Felix of Potsdam. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Grace Best, and sister-in-law Julia Best of Winthrop, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Reginald W. Felix. Following Wayne's wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Please consider memorial contributions in his honor to: Tri-Town Minor Hockey, Tri-Town Rescue Squad, St. Lawrence Central Athletic Department, or a charity of your choice.
